Separation Anxiety and Hide-and-Seek

May 28th, 2013

Young children are often anxiety when they are separated from their parents—at school or daycare drop-off, when a baby-sitter comes, or when a parent travels away from home. Children work out their worries through play. Young children love “Peek-a-Boo” because they are working on feeling at ease with separation from a parent.  The game “Hide and Seek” can be helpful to a child learning that things/people “disappear and then reappear” and this game can help allay their anxiety.
